RPCS3 is a free multi platform emulator that's completely open-source. It only emulates PlayStation 3 games, but it's a lot of these available. It's primarily developed by two developers, Nekotekina and kd-11. It does not permit any PlayStation 3 peripheral control use as of now, but there are a good deal of usable gamepads available to play with, and most types and brands of controllers may be used to play each of the games. {To download, you will need a 64-bit version of either Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 9, or Windows 10. |} Modern versions of Linux also needs to be fully supported by RPCS3. It might also work with other hardware, even though Linux and Windows seem to be advocated (For a better gameplay experience). You can download RPCS3 from https://rpcs3.onl/ and install it following its instructions.

So as to install games, you will have to get them from either a physical PlayStation 3 console you have access to or from a Kinect drive, though only certain kinds of Blu-ray drives can be used to install games to use with RPCS3. This is sometimes inconvenient. According to the programmer, 1876 games are currently playable, which is an excellent amount if you are wanting to play a large variety of different video games out of a PlayStation 3 console in your computer. Right now, online multiplayer is unfortunately only available in a very small selection of games, which can be inconvenient if you would like to play with someone that is not near you. This could be improved in the future, but as of right now it seems unlikely. Local multiplayer, though, is fortunately completely supported, meaning you can use it in all available multiplayer games that would have a local multiplayer option when playing on a real console. You may use up to 7 controllers at the exact same time, which means that you can play with a bigger group of people if needed. As of March 2020, there's now support offered for a number of PlayStation 3D games, which means you can play games offering 3D capabilities (3D effects such as the ones in 3D films ).
