Citra is a Nintendo 3DS emulator. It's completely free, multi platform and open source, created by a group of programmers known as Citra Team. It may emulate sound completely, something that RYUJINX can not do. Multiplayer through networked WiFi is supported, which permits you to play multiplayer games with other people, even though they have to be utilizing Citra. You can't play multiplayer with individuals that are using a real Nintendo 3DS.

Installation of Citra works with Windows, MacOS, Linux, and Android, though the Android variant is in early access as of This Moment. The general consensus is that Citra installation is very simple, fast, and rather straightforward, with a lot of guides and tutorials available for you. While picking Citra, you may choose between two variants, both of which have advantages and disadvantages to utilize. The more stable version is Citra Nightly, that's the much more secure variant of Citra. The next version, called Citra Canary, includes new features, alterations, and updates that Nightly doesn't have. These attributes are occasionally experimental and may or may not end up from the Nightly variant, but they are often features that can not be employed with better performance, or features that cause the game to lag or operate improperly throughout gameplay.

You need Windows 7, 8, or 10 to play either Citra variation on Windows. To play on MacOS, you'll need version 10.13 High Sierra or higher. To play on Linux, you'll require a 64-bit modern version, and Windows 8 is needed to operate Citra on any and all Android devices. Officially, all hardware has to be at least 64-bit to run Citra's applications. To play games, then you'll need both a Nintendo 3DS and a game cartridge. Citra has a massive collection of games that you could playwith, but you have to have the game cartridge of every game you want to playwith. This can make gameplay very inconvenient.
